Hey! So Glad You're Here.

Hi! My name is Lucy. I am a recent graduate from Elon University now pursuing a year of service through Young Adult Volunteers with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) is a national faith-based service year for young people across America. Through this national program, I have been placed in New Orleans. The mission of the New Orleans YAV year is to seek God and be transformed in one of the most unique cities in the world. New Orleans has a unique dynamic with the continued grief from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, poverty, violence, and a broken educational system as well as the joy and spirit from jazz music, good food, and Mardi Gras. Through this program, I will engage with the New Orleans community in both aspects. 

 

In New Orleans, I will be an intern with Eden House. The mission of Eden House is to eradicate the trafficking and selling of human beings. This group provides long-term housing and recovery programs for survivors of human trafficking. Additionally, they strive to prevent human trafficking through legislative and educational advocacy.
